Something Wonderful in Benwell

Dear members of Newcastle MU,

We are incredibly grateful for the help you have given us recently, in a climate where more and more people are in need, we are able to welcome people with compassion and dignity. We open our doors to all, and members of our local community know that they will be helped without judgment by their local church; it helps them to know that they are valued and matter. A meal eaten together, or the joy of creating something good and beautiful through art, are small but direct and tangible ways of transforming lives. The more people that come, the more work there is to do, and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without your help in recent months. Thank you, from all the community of Benwell and Scotswood.

The Revd Christopher Minchin

Team Vicar for Mission, Benwell & Scotswood Team Parish

Newcastle MU secured a grant of £5000 for the project from St Hilda's Trust and also to a number of gifts were delivered to the project (eg kitchen equipment and food items, toilet rolls and art materials, all very much appreciated by those who volunteer to provide open hospitality.

2 more bags of donated Art materials were received with thanks by Petra at Benwell's Art Group Shirley and her team were clearing up after the Tuesday Lunch

In a response to the ‘Something Wonderful’ project, some MU members from Holy Nativity and West Deanery delivered some donated art materials to the Art Club in Benwell. They were welcomed with enthusiasm. The group, together with Petra, the artist in residence,  were amazing and they were all very appreciative of the gifts.
