At Mothers’ Union, we are aware that men are victims of domestic abuse, and believe that any form of genderbasedviolence is abhorrent. The RISE UP campaign and this BystanderBook and webinar are however aimed at helping women and girls, as the evidence shows that the greatmajority of victims and survivors
are female.

| Newcastle Cathedral hosted a Tea Party for organisations that support GBA funded by Newcastle MU |
| The tea party hosted by the cathedral and Mothers' Union brought together organisations which support the victims of gender based violence in the North East. The dean, the Very Rev Lee Batson spoke to welcome the women who work for those organisations, and the commitment the cathedral has to join our shared cause of raising awareness of domestic abuse. The purpose of the afternoon was to thank these organisations, and provide an enjoyable respite for networking. Catering was delivered by St. Oswald's project employees. MU president, Margy, MU chaplain Rev Anne Marr, West deanery leader, Anne Blight, and VP Diana Macnaughton talked to Carole Brady of Children Northeast, women working for Gateshead Council Domestic Abuse team (DAT), 3 women who had driven from Lancashire working for Paladin national stalking advocacy service, Julia who is Oasis Housing domestic abuse worker, women from Newcastle Domestic Abuse Support NDAS, from the Cowgate centre, from North Tyneside Impact, and Connected Families supervised contact, and Eram Javid from Apna Ghar BME domestic abuse lead in South Tyneside, and many Changing Lives workers.
