May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace and rise in glory.

A Thanksgiving for Past Members

Mothers’ Union in Newcastle Diocese devotes this page in thankful remembrance of members whose service in this world is ended.

For all who have committed their lives in prayer and action through Mothers’ Union, we are thankful.

For the years of service given and the time they devoted, we are thankful.

For their giftedness shared with others, we are thankful.

For the ways in which their lives have helped to shape our own,

we are deeply thankful.

May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace and rise in glory.

Hexham Abbey Group In memoriam of June Olliver.

In Memoriam of June Olliver

Hexham Abbey Mothers’ Union group

November is the time of the year when we arrange for flowers to be placed in Hexham Abbey in memory of our dear much missed member, June Olliver, who lost her battle with cancer on 19th November 2023.

We still miss June’s wonderful enthusiasm and guidance to make Mothers’ Union known more widely. She would have supported the plans to celebrate the MU organisation’s 150th Anniversary in 2026.

We have placed the flower arrangement in the North Transept chapel alongside the MU Banner, together with some information boards about the work of the MU, locally and internationally.

Next year in June, MU groups from around the Newcastle Diocese will meet for a special celebration service in Newcastle Cathedral. Also, the National Mothers’ Union will hold a service in St. Paul’s Cathedral and a National Gathering in London. Tickets for these are available online.

If you want to know more about Mary Sumner, the founder, or the organisation, please read more on this website or National MU on their websites at: www.munewcastle.org.uk or www.mothersunion.org.
