Mothers’ Union is active in Dioceses around the world, and this worldwide focus is an important part of our Mothers’ Union membership: their work is supported centrally through the Worldwide Fund where required. We express our fellowship and support through the ‘Wave of Prayer’, as we pray throughout the year for the lives and challenges faced by our fellow members.
The Dioceses worldwide are divided into groups, and we have a special concern for those in our own group. Our group has its place in the Wave of Prayer on 30th November – 3rd December each year, when members throughout the world pray for us. The members of our group are:
- Bo in Sierra Leone
with President Mrs. Solomon Scott-Manga, the Bishop’s wife
They have suffered greatly both through Ebola and through COVID. They run Nursery schools, work in their prisons, and use agriculture to feed their people.
- Mpumulanga in South Africa
with President Gulu Langa
We frequently receive pictures of their activities through Facebook See Here
- Central Buganda in Uganda
with President Mrs. Jenepher Lubowa.
They are using the Mothers’ Union ‘Eagle’ programme to take control of their own lives, identifying problems and opportunities.
- Zonkwa in Nigeria
with President Mrs. Rhoda Kwashi, the Bishop’s wife, who works alongside her husband to support the work and lives of women and girls.
Their worship is full of song and dance.
- Newcastle in England with President Margy Tasker-Brown
- Barrackpore, West Bengal, within the Church of North India,
Making contact
We have a link person for each of our linked Dioceses: each has a personal connection with that country, and most of these are members of our First Internet Branch. We regularly send our Journals and Newsletters to each linked Diocesan Mothers’ Union, usually by email, and we are trying to arrange Zoom meetings with them.
If your Branch would like to know more about our links, do ask for a presentation: currently I am sharing a Powerpoint presentation with the information we have about each link, which I update as we receive more news and pictures. It helps us to imagine the lives of our fellow members and the challenges they face, to pray with more focus.
